Tyler Perry discusses suicide attempt while reflecting on the death of Steven "tWitch" Boss:
Dancer and TV star The Boss passed away this week at the age of 40, his wife Allison
Holker confirmed the news in a shocking statement Wednesday.
Friends, family, and fans are paying tribute to the star who survived his sudden death, and actor Perry now speaks out about his "dark" days.
Starring in a new Netflix documentary
about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle,
Perry begged people to "go back" if they were struggling in an
emotional social media video as it was revealed that he had been asked to be godfather to their daughter Lilybeth.
“I want to go back to that time in my life when I tried to commit suicide
several times because it was just too dark and I didn’t think it would get better.
' "I went through so much pain, abuse, and sexual abuse. It was all so hard that I thought the only way
to fix it was to kill myself," Perry
said.
He later said he realized that "if any of these attempts had occurred, I would have missed out on the best part of my life".
Starr begged people to seek help, "even though it may seem hopeless" at the time.
Now, according to the director, in a much better place, he rationalizes
this, believing that "sometimes pain is a buy... I mean all this pain, all this hell, and struggle if I just give up." … I will never see the best part of my life. I bought something, I paid for something.”
He says he is "the happiest"
right now, that his life is "full of joy and love" and that anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts should "think about what the other person is like." It can be surprising."
Sharing the US National Suicide Prevention phone
number, he added, "Don't let the darkness stop you from reaching this amazing place of life."
“That you can overcome is my living
witness. I'm so glad my attempts didn't work. I'm still safe.'
The boss's wife, Holker, confirmed the death of the boss in a heartbreaking statement to People magazine on Wednesday. Stephen sets fire to every room he enters.
“He valued family, friends, and community above
all else, and leadership with love and light was everything to him. He was the pillar of our family, the best husband, and father, and he
inspired our fans," he said.
Paying tribute to the dancer, she ended
with "Stephen, we love and miss you and will always save the last dance for you."
Boss has a wife and children, Wesley, Maddox, and Jaya.
