Stephen Curry of the Warriors says after recovering from an injury, "I felt like myself again."
The superstar guard Stephen Curry returned from injury and appeared to be his regular self for the Golden State Warriors, despite the fact that they lost to the Phoenix Suns 125-113 on Tuesday night.
Curry scored 24 points while playing for the first time after suffering a left shoulder subluxation almost a month ago. When asked how it felt to be back on the court, Curry stated the following:
"Depending on how much rust you have and how quickly you can catch up to the game's pace, your chances are either good or bad. Just being out there, sprinting with our guys, felt amazing during the first quarter. As the game progressed, I felt like I became stronger. The game became more intense in the fourth. We were playing in an effort to recover and make some plays. Once more, I felt like myself."
Curry's performance was far from flawless; he only made 8 of 22 field goal attempts and concluded with three assists, one rebound, and one steal. Nevertheless, he seemed to get stronger throughout the game because he scored 16 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter.
Curry's return allowed the Warriors to field their entire starting lineup for the first time since December 3. While Curry had a strong scoring performance and Klay Thompson led the team with 29 points, the Warriors' other three offensive players, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney, contributed just 16 points in total.
Curry was having another MVP-caliber season before suffering a shoulder injury. He has averaged 29.7 points, 6.7 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.0 three-pointers made in 27 games this season while shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point range.
Golden State's 2022–23 season has primarily been a disappointment thus far after they returned to the top of the league and won the NBA championship the previous year.
The Dubs are only 20-21, which ranks them seventh in the Western Conference. If the playoffs began today, they would have to compete in the postseason play-in round.
With a 6-5 record when Curry was absent, the Warriors impressively managed to stay afloat, but they have already lost three straight games.
Given that the Suns were without arguably their top three players in Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton on Tuesday, the defeat was particularly shocking.
Nevertheless, despite Mikal Bridges, Damion Lee, and Duane Washington Jr. scoring over 20 points each, the Warriors were unable to stop them defensively.
The Warriors haven't performed at the same level as they did last season due to injuries and erratic play, but there is now some optimism that things will improve.
The Warriors' performance on Tuesday demonstrated that they still have some hitches to work out, but now that they are essentially healthy, Curry is leading one of the most talented and deep squads in the game.
Golden State will return to action on Friday and play a road game against the 13-28 San Antonio Spurs in an effort to move past the defeat from Tuesday.
